System requirements for each bake command.

Requirements

By use case

Read-only commands (Node.js only)

These commands work with just Node.js installed:

  • bake login โ€” local keypair management
  • bake use โ€” switch clusters
  • bake whoami โ€” show active wallet(s) and cluster
  • bake stats โ€” program activity stats
  • bake logs โ€” view program logs
  • bake decode โ€” decode transactions/accounts

Requirements:

  • Node.js โ‰ฅ 18
  • Network access to Cookie Chain RPC

Build & deploy commands

These commands require the full Solana/Anchor toolchain:

  • bake init โ€” scaffold new Anchor project
  • bake deploy โ€” build, deploy, and register on-chain
  • bake rollback โ€” rebuild and redeploy a previous entry
  • bake prove --rebuild โ€” full reproducibility proof

Requirements:

  • Node.js โ‰ฅ 18
  • Rust (via rustup)
  • Solana CLI (Agave)
  • Anchor CLI
  • Git

Audit commands

  • bake audit โ€” static analysis via Radar
  • bake deploy --require-audit โ€” deploy gated on clean audit

Requirements:

  • All build requirements above
  • Radar (curl -L https://raw.githubusercontent.com/auditware/radar/main/install-radar.sh | bash)
  • Docker (running)

Fork commands

  • bake fork โ€” clone a program into local validator

Requirements:

  • Node.js โ‰ฅ 18
  • Solana CLI

Windows-specific

On Windows, bake auto-relays Anchor/Solana commands through WSL. You need:

  • Windows 10/11 with WSL 2 enabled
  • Ubuntu distribution in WSL
  • Rust, Solana CLI, and Anchor installed inside WSL (not on Windows)

See Windows & WSL Setup for step-by-step instructions.

Checking your environment

bash
bake doctor

This runs a comprehensive check of your environment and reports pass/warn/fail for each requirement.
