Rollback Safely

Overview

bash

bake rollback

bake rollback rebuilds and redeploys a previous Recipe Book entry. It's designed to be safe — your working directory is never left in a broken state.

How it works

Reads Recipe Book — finds all deploy entries for your program
Picks entry — interactive selection (or bake rollback --to <entry>)
Checks out commit — git checkout <commit-sha>
Rebuilds — anchor build --arch v0 --tools-version v1.57
Deploys — redeploys the binary
Registers — creates a new Recipe Book entry marking the rollback
Restores — returns to your original branch/commit

Safety guarantees

Git state always restored — even if build/deploy fails mid-operation
try/finally block — the restore runs in a finally block, guaranteed to execute
Tested against deliberate failures — the restore was verified by intentionally breaking builds mid-rollback

Usage

Interactive selection

bash

bake rollback

Shows a list of Recipe Book entries and lets you pick one.

Specific entry

bash

bake rollback --to 3

Rollback to entry #3 directly.

With audit gate

bash

bake rollback --require-audit

Runs Radar before rolling back.

What gets rolled back

The compiled binary (rebuilt from the historical commit)
The on-chain program account

What does NOT change:

Your git history (a new entry is created, not overwritten)
Your working directory (restored to original state)
